Really happy with the quality and mostly everything about it. I like how slim it is on my side. The only thing I would change is putting up the actual sizes of the belt. I got a S/M and I need it to go smaller to fit my hips. Which also means I have a lot of extra belt. I don’t perceive myself as a super tiny person either. I put my keys and wallet in it and wore it around and it weighs my shorts down. I would say put the sizing on the belts up so people don’t have that problem.

I know that you have evolved it over time for the better and everyone has an opinion but here is mine.
I feel that the hessian storage bag is much too coarse and worry it will scratch up the leather. It looks great though so I’ll find another use for it.
I find the giant lobster clasp inside the bag much too big and heavy for such a compact bag with limited space. It’s a good idea but could be much smaller or perhaps removable by adding a press stud to the strip of leather that holds it in place so that it’s optional.
Earlier bags had a quick release belt. It looks much more stylish and less like a fanny pack without it but I think it really needs one. It’s really not comfortable to sit down wearing in a car or at a cafe and inconvenient to keep undoing the strap. I did some research and found a company that does quick release buckles hidden behind a traditional leather buckle. Perhaps your clever artisans could do the same.

I bought this bag some time in 2010 & it is STILL going strong! The dimensions are: 7 1/2 inch across; 6 1/2 inch high & 2 inch deep. It holds my slim credit card holder, change purse, lip gloss, nail file, & several miscellaneous items. I used it for years as a bum bag but now use it as a cross body bag. Works great as both! I particularly like the back zipper compartment. It’s the perfect size for my passport whilst on one of my adventures.

Was a huge fan on Fiona on Burn Notice. Really wanted that hip bag she wore on the show. Got this, thinking I’d look just like her lol. The leather is a little stiff, but will probably get softer over time. If I could make a custom one, I’d use a dark, really soft suede leather with no extra pockets, a little longer with a simple flap. Please make one for me!!

The thing I like the best is that this sits pretty close to your body, it isn’t too bulky. For those others out there who are not super skinny you will have to provide your own belt. At least this one lets you change out belts. As far as the current price, I feel like it was a lot cheaper when I bought it. I think a good price for this is around the $75 to $80 area.
The design of this bag is nice. It has good pockets with zippers in the right places. I got mine in a shiny type leather rather than a suede. It was a little stiff at first but broke in fast. There is a lot of fraying around the edges now, though. I need to trim it up.

It is absolutely perfect for stomping around our desert with my kids in tow, without feeling as though one of my shoulders will fall off with a kid on the other hip. Like many others, I was drawn to this purse after seeing fiona wear something similar. I bought it in the color chocolate, size small/medium. However, if I were to purchase it again, I would probably choose the dark brown so that I could wear it with a pair of nude pumps.

Like many others, I was drawn to this type of bag due to the Fiona character on Burn Notice. After a few years of waiting, I finally made a purchase. I ordered the chocolate brown bag and was quite pleased with the color and the distressed look of the leather. The stitching appears quite solid as well. I’m 5’4″, usually wear a 4-6 size jean and ordered a S/M, which worked well for me. I prefer not to loop it through my jean belt loops, but instead let it hang a bit more loosely. The bag has come-in quite handy as I have an infant at home and appreciate not fussing with a handbag when we are running errands. I believe the biggest improvement opportunity is the “pouch” or “sleeve” pockets (2 interior and 2 exterior directly under the main flap). I would like to keep my cell phone in one of the exterior pouch pockets for quick access, but my galaxy s4 does not easily fit. In fact, I need to store it horizontally in the main zip pocket as the 2 interior sleeve pockets don’t accommodate it either. With phone screens getting bigger, I wish that these “pouch” pockets were sized and configured differently–this is a big miss in my opinion. Also, I wish the magnets that keep the main flap down were a bit stronger and had bigger surface area. I find that I sometimes need to tinker with them to get them to secure, and would prefer not to have that hassle. Lastly, from a design standpoint, I would like to see options with silver/nickel hued hardware vs the gold hue.

I am short (5 foot) so when I wear a back pack bag it is easy for ne’er-do-wells to get at my valuables. The hip bag allows me better security as well as giving me easier access to the stuff I need. I put off buying this bag for almost 2 years for this or that reason and I finally put my foot down and ordered it, and I have no regrets. This bag is just as convenient, stylish and good quality as I had pictured it to be from the description and reviews. I use it at Uni (great for when you have a backpack on, but still want to access your wallet/phone etc.), whilst running errands and at concerts/festivals. I love having my hands free and it doesn’t feel as heavy as a cross-body bag of the same size. A few last comments: -The leather was quite stiff when the bag first arrived, but after a few days it became much softer. -I ordered a size M, according to the measurements given, but I found it to hang a little too low even on the tightest fit and there isn’t anywhere to tuck the tail end of the belt. If I order another bag (which is very probable!), I will order a smaller size.

I bought these for my associate and I to keep all our important items with us while we work our events (I own a wedding and event planning company in Chicago). We have had things stolen before and with these bags hope to eliminate that from happening.
There were some issues with the sizing but I have worked it out. I think they tend to run bigger than what is said in the measurements. This results in having a long piece of the belt that hangs. We didn’t think the look was very professional, so we opted to return and get a smaller size.
All-in-all, I love the hip bag and I love that these bags are eco-friendly too! Customer service has also been helpful.

Got in early June and have worn it every day since then. I wear it to work all day. It holds my Iphone 4 with an Otterbox Defender case in larger outside pocket. It holds my keys in the another smaller pocket. In the inside zippered pocket I put my wallet and anther small zippered case and carry the charger for my Iphone. In the outside zippered pocket I can carry my id badge for work and another two keys. I will buy more from Happy Cow!!

I am a customer in the Uk. I ordered a distressed leather hip bag, without realising that it was of inferior quality to the normal bag. However, Happy Cow customer service was absolutely superb, and sorted me out an exchange straightaway. Both the original order and the replacement arrived within about a week, and international shipping charges are very reasonable.
I haven’t been able to find anything even remotely similar in the UK, it is a great little bag, I suffer with a bad back, and try to avoid shoulder bags, so this is a fantastic thing to have, I can drive, ride my bike, and sit and eat without removing it, and it looks so much nicer than any of the nylon bum bags that you can find in the UK.
It fits sunglasses ( although don’t be fooled by the pic that shows them sitting snugly in the pocket, unless you have child size glasses, they won’t fit), wallet, phone, keys, and suntan cream easily. Perfect for Festivals.
My one criticism would be that the distressed leather is a much nicer looker bag in my opinion, I guess it’s a matter of personal taste, but the ‘ real’ bag, which is described as superior quality just looks ever so slightly ‘ plastic’ compared to the distressed leather. But that’s only because I have been able to compare the two I guess. It is clearly good quality, soft leather, I just prefer the slightly more ‘ battered’ look.
Well worth the money, and worth the shipping charges.

I just received my red hip bag and love it even more than the distressed black one. The leather is amusingly soft, and some of the “upgrades” that we’re done on the newer bags make them even more user friendly. One of my friends fell in love with it, so I gave her the black one as a gift, and she loves it as well.
As you can see from the picture, though, not everyone in my family is as happy.

We attend a lot of events and conferences where holding a backpack or a purse is a nuisance. I have often thought–with a mixture of longing and dread–of how practical and convenient a fanny pack would be. And then I’d remember how unattractive I find fanny packs and go back to carrying a purse in a crowd.

I just hate carrying a shoulder bag if I don’t have to, and have been looking for a hip bag that does NOT look like a geeky fanny pack. This fits the bill. It holds everything that I normally need to carry, but lies flat to the body, so you don’t look like a kangaroo on steroids. The leather is lovely and soft, and knowing that it has been made in an ecological fashion lets me wear it without guilt.

It’s a nice size, but the snap buttons don’t work at all easily. Even if the mechanism worked a little better it’s awkward to close, which is obviously a key function. Not a great design in that respect. Maybe a magnetic button in the future?

It took longer for me to decide which bag to get than it to ship it out all the way to California! This bag has changed my life. I can jump in the car and drive without taking it off. I can sit at a bar or restaurant and not worry about my purse falling off the back of my chair or getting stolen. I can hop on and off my bike and ride around town without having my purse get caught in the spokes or falling off. I do wish that the buttons were magnetic so I don’t have to snap them closed. They need some pressure to close, and I’m afraid I’m going to crush my sunglasses. I’d also prefer smooth leather, but it has a bumpy texture (as shown in the images). Also, while I think the buckle is more fashionable, it’s kind of a pain to take off. But I love it. No regrets. Love the bag overall, but have suggestion. The zipper on the flap should be at the end by the snaps. Placed where it is now, that compartment is useless as everything falls out when you try to use it. Placed as I suggest, it would become useful space, instead of wasted space.

The hip bag outdoes the other waist or hip bags like those from Gucci or YSL as they are more spacious, hold more things and not cumbersome. I was so happy when my Hip Bag came in the mail. It’s a great bag with good storage space that allows me to go hands free while in the field for work and on some Geocaching adventures. The quality of the bag is good, though I do wish the pocket on the front was a little bigger to fit my phone. The strap is also very, very long (my hips are 29″) and doesn’t secure well for long durations and high activity. Though it does fit my waist size. Other than that I love the bag and it’s a great to start to my future Happy Cow collection!

I no longer have to cart around so many bags on my poor shoulders. The only fault i would mention (i’m not sure if i just overuse it – but only had it a couple of weeks) the stitching has started to fray already and i am slightly worried about one of my poppers. It is a bit wobbly. Also as i am a lefty it took me a bit to get used to wearing it on my opposite side. This bag is amazing. As a larger girl (size 18 Australian) I bought the m/l and it has plenty of strap left over. It fits my phone my sunglasses (without a case but there is a pocket for them) and the happy cow Wallet easily it’s small and convenient. I do a lot of charity work in the way of sausage sizzles etc. it’s nice I can keep my purse on me all day without it adding pressure to my back and not worry about my purse being stolen. One fact is not so excellent though: I live in Germany, so I got a little surprised how much taxes I had to pay for my bag. It added up to an amount of roughly 70Ă¯Â¿Â½ per bag! Plus I had to got to the tax office at 7 AM in the morning to fetch my Happy Cow order!
But all in all it was worth it!

I really enjoyed using this hip bag, I found it was practical to use for anything from a nice long walk, to music festivals to hard core travelling. It was so nice to finally have my shoulders free, and to comfortably carry the weight on my hips. I could fit just about every precious thing into it when overseas, so there was a lot less to worry about. My only criticisms would be that, when wearing it a lot, I could end up feeling lop sided, I think a moveable pouch would be better, so you can swap sides (to reduce back strain). Also I was caught in heavy rain, and the red stained leather colour ran onto my white clothes, staining them. So colour-fast in any weather would be great! Overall, a fab bag <3

After ordering my hip bag I waited with anticipation for it’s arrival. A speedy delivery and all that was waiting was to road test my newest accessory…soon to become my friend đŸ™‚ So i strapped her on and away we went…$2 Tues night tacos and beer. The housemates were up for the tacos and beer but the first test…hands free walking…they weren’t so keen on. The whole way there I talked about the benefits of my new hip bag; how my hips carry all the weight, that the colour (dark brown) co ordinates with everything,that it makes me look quite intrepid (a look I was going for at the time) and that all my bits fit perfectly. I even noted that cart wheeling was an option at this time (if I knew how) as my hands were noticeably free to do so if i in fact I felt like taking up this new hobby. I also insisted on repeating the fact that i kept feeling like I left my bag at home. I also felt like a lead singer of a band when he breaks a string on his guitar and continues singing while someone restrings…you know how they stand there all awkward not knowing what to do with their hands. Well that was me…but no singing…or guitar, just a girl without her handbag awkwardly hanging off her. At dinner I went to get up to grab another taco (clearly famished from the walk) and went to say to the girls ‘can you watch my bag’. Ha! No longer do I need to rely on intoxicated friends keeping an eye on my valuables. I also realised at this point how great the bag will be on a night out…test 2. No longer do I need to leave my hand bag lying around on a chair or dancing around a pile of them on the dance floor while I bust a move and nor do i need to worry about having one too many reds and heading home without it. I know I can wake up in the morning with no recollection of the night before but still know my belongs are safe as i roll out of bed in the morning with my bag still safely attached đŸ™‚ I originally purchased the bag for an up coming overseas adventure but its safe to say the mateship has started much earlier and developed into so much more. The handbag has been shoved under the bed and my new hip bag has taken its place as my keeper of all the things precious đŸ™‚

I really love this bag. I have always hated purses, and I thought this looked like it may be a good compromise of having carrying power but not having to actually use any hands to do it. It works. I am able to keep a variety of things in it before it poofs out too much and looks too big– but the space is there to keep much more. I also think this would be amazing for travel. I wish I had had it the last time I was over in the Middle East. There is room for a phone, a camera, your IDs/passport, money, keys, lip gloss, and a couple other emergency items both feminine and practical. I have been using this mostly when I go around and photograph things– and it is proving to be a durable work bag. A++++++++!

I ordered two hip bags. One in black and one in “dirty dark red”, plus two black magic wallets (which are awesome).
The black hip bag was everything I expected, although a touch smaller on the inside than I envisioned (I’m not good with that sort of thing).
However, the “dirty dark red” wasn’t really red at all. In fact, it was kind of a yellowish brown. In certain lights it has a very slight red cast to it but throughout it was brown, brown, brown. I even compared a scan of it to the swatch on the site. The swatch is significantly redder than the product! Don’t buy this color if you are expecting anyone to glance at it and think “red”. However, if brown with a slight red cast that is occasionally yellow is fine with you, then it’s a good pick.

My new hip bag just arrived, and I’m so happy with it!!! If you don’t like carrying bags on your shoulders, and you don’t carry a lot of stuff, this is definitely the way to go. It works especially well when wrangling a toddler. And it doesn’t remotely resemble one of those awful fanny packs we all remember (and still see occasionally). I was a little afraid that the bag would be too big, or too bulky or stick out, but it’s just the right size, and sits smoothly against my hip without adding any bulk. There’s easily room for my wallet, keys, cell phone, ipod, and a few other things without feeling overstuffed or heavy. I’ve been wearing it slung low over my hips, which puts the bag at the perfect distance for reaching into and out of, but I think it will work just as well worn higher up like a regular belt. FYI, Happy Cow’s customer service is awesome: there was a small problem with the first bag I received, and the exchange process was very easy with no problems.

If you need to have your hands available for your busy life, then you need this little number! I travel a good deal with what I do, and have found this hip bag surprisingly roomy, with a few other hidden compartments sprinkled in–make it useful in and out of customs, and on foreign streets; I don’t fear pick pockets nor purse thieves in foreign countries/cities or in US cities anymore! I couldn’t be happier that it really is a belt; looks great with jeans or any other looks you may be working or rocking for that matter.
